A craftsman’s sense of surfaces

Building on strong craft traditions

When it comes to the final touch there is no match for the experienced craftsman’s sense of shape and the subtle nuances in a surface. All the finishing work is done by hand with every corner, edge and surface being finely sanded until everything is smooth and even. Also the oil and lacquer finish is done manually with final sanding by hand to ensure everything is smoothed down. You can feel the extensive finishing work when running your hand over a finished sideboard and the surface feels soft and silky against the palm. It’s the feeling that only fine furniture making and skilled craftsmen can provide you with – and the essence of the huge amount of time and meticulous work put into a Bern. Pedersen & Søn piece. Beautiful and timeless pieces to be enjoyed for generations.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Bernh. Pedersen & Søn, we believe that true craftsmanship and sustainability go hand in hand. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in the exceptional durability of our products, which are designed to last for generations.

This long lifespan means that our furniture often becomes cherished heirlooms, passed down through families or sold as vintage pieces. The large number of vintage stores worldwide that sell our products, originally crafted decades ago, is a testament to their enduring quality.

Today, sustainability is fundamental to good design, and responsible material sourcing forms a key chapter in any product’s story. We believe that the minimal climate impact of our products, when viewed over their extensive lifespan, makes them a responsible choice for eco-conscious consumers. By choosing Bernh. Pedersen & Søn, you are investing in timeless design that stands the test of time and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Through transparent sourcing and manufacture, Bernh. Pedersen & Søn take the environmental aspect seriously by improving all stages of production – from the raw materials to packaging, reducing energy consumption and optimizing the working environment.

We optimise the use of sustainable materials such as recycled materials, FSC-certified wood and water-based surface treatments. We want to know the origin of our raw timber, leather and textiles, and ensure that our suppliers have documented environmental management systems in place. We try to keep our furniture miles to a minimum by opting for local suppliers and our aim is that all our packaging is made entirely from recyclable, renewable materials.

Global life changing goals which Bernh. Pedersen & Søn is committed to pursue.
